Day 8: Well, It was Fun While it Lasted
The big question mark for me this year at my main school has been whether or not I would be able to stay in my classroom. It seems like speech therapists are often the low man on the totem pole, especially when you travel between several schools. After doing therapy last year in a foyer-with-doors-that-do-not-seal-so-you-can-hear-everything-and-windows-so-you-can-see-everything-which-was-right-next-to-the-8th-grade-lockers-so-that-my-little-kids-were totally-distracted-during-nearly-every-session-by-the-big-kids-slamming-their-lockers-and-acting-like-punky-8th-graders, when I heard that I could use this tiny room (aka large closet) this year I felt like I had won the lottery!
At the beginning of the year the principal had told me that he may need to take the room back at any time if the need arose, but as the weeks went by and I didn't hear anything I figured that the room was safely mine. So I moved all my materials in and decorated. Because I like to decorate! And the walls were sad and lonely without anything on them! And its just more fun that way!
Well, fast forward to this morning.
Walking through the hall at 7:30 to get my first group, I see the principal. He says, "I need to talk to you." Funny how it doesn't matter your age, those words from the principal can still make your stomach sink. Something about having to add another kindergarten class so they needed the space. So of course I had to go grab my camera to take pictures before I started taking everything down. Not sure where I'll be doing therapy next week but I guess that keeps things interesting! Anyway, this is what my room used to look like. It was a little messy when I took these pictures because we had already started moving, but you get the idea. (Btw...I really did take this picture today even though my calendar has the date from yesterday! I didn't cheat on the Octography challenge!) =)
